YWIC is a 2 year Leadership development programme. Young people can begin at ages 15-17 years by committing one evening per week. At the end of YWIC they will be a volunteer or paid worker with qualifications, skills and good experience in youth work.
Participants not only become a strong skilled youth leader but they develop friendships with peers across North Belfast. Also they get connected with their communities and give back by becoming a role model to young people and through Volunteering. In total YWIC gives more than 4000 volunteer hours back each year.
Does YWIC Succeed?
Not only do participants get qualifications and employment in youth work, but all skills and qualifications are transferable. Not everyone wants to be a youth worker. For instance some have got jobs in marketing and quickly became a team leader due to their skills.
